No other parade entry personifies the theme of "Family"as precisely as does the Harris County Democratic Party. Indeed HCDP is the ultimate Family because it is the umbrella organization for all local Democrats. Our group includes:
* elected officials
* reform minded candidates running for office
* numerous neighborhood Democratic clubs
* individual activists
* but most importantly, VOLUNTEERS, just as yourselves!!
The Democratic Party has always and proudly supported the GLBT agenda; and several of our candidates on the November ballot are openly gay.
The "MPeach Bush Art Truck" represents action that should have been taken years ago to preserve the Constitution and protect the civil liberties of all Americans. However, despite this missed opportunity, we now embrace, but paraphrase the lyrics of Sister Sledge: "I got all my Democrats with me, so get up EVERYBODY, and
VOTE for our family!!"

Stick Magnetic Ribbons on your SUV -a satire about gas gusling SUVs and token gestures on the home front:

Max Blumenthal takes us on a tour of the
College Republican National Convention,
where the GOP’s next generation cheer on the war in Iraq, then make excuses for why they can’t serve. Why aren’t there any minorities in College Repubs?

House was completely demolished on Wed. 7/18 by 2pm.
The protest is more enthusiastic now, than ever!
(see the other demolition photos here)

Protest the demolition of another Heights historical property!
Thurs. 5-6pm, 10th & Heights Blvd.
Join your neighbors to Rally and protest the demolition of historic properties.
Hear from preservation officials what financial incentives are available to renovate historic properties and how they can be returned to their former glory as the authentic homes they are, instead of the "pseudo Victorians" that are now being built.
Help us voice our frustration and sadness over the ongoing demolition plans by Harry James Builders of the Doyle Mansion, an Historic Victorian Home located at 945 Heights Blvd. The ongoing demolition of historic homes, buildings, bungalows and cottages in our historic neighborhood must come to a stop.

Despite the rain which stopped by 7pm, it was a gorgeous night (not so hot). We deliberately recruited some "Beefcake" to energize the young crowd and diversify the image of the Party. The shirtless Dems carried the HCDP banner and led the unit. Lots of YDs and Stonewall YDs showed up, so their participation with us and in politics was an important message to send to the crowd, which is mostly young folks.
