Help Increase November 2010 turnout to the same level as 2008!!
among "surge" voters
All GHDC Club Members are asked to please join in for a CLUB Effort
— in coordination with Harris County Dem Party, for the November 2010 election.
Please RSVP if you can help out, and participate! — from the comfort of your own home. With Bill White at the TOP of the ticket, we have a great opportunity for Democratic victories in the Governor’s mansion — and county-wide. Let’s help elect a new GOVERNOR… The turnout for White will also affect all other positions on ballot.
Here’s the Plan: The CLUB will be a part of the Harris County Democratic Party‘s strategy for the 2010 election. We’re asking members to each agree to contact 50 voters, so that we all work together to increase voter turnout in November.
By contacting "surge voters," those who voted in the 2008 Democratic Primary and General Elections for the first time (or the first time in a long time), we’ll engage in direct voter contact with surge voters within our neighborhoods.
With these voters, we know that if we can just get them to the polls again in November, they will vote Democratic. That’s why Volunteers all over Harris County just like us, are reaching out to their 50 For Victory voters early and often.
We’ll provide call lists, and instructions.
The party will be conducting it’s next training session at the Party Headquarters, 1445 North Loop West, Suite 110, Houston, TX on Sat August 28. Please email Natalie at natalie@hcdp.org and cc me at kjhman12002@yahoo.com to RSVP for this training class.

About White Linen Night in the Heights:
White Linen Night began in New Orleans‘ French Quarter’s Arts District as a way for artists and patrons to celebrate their city’s creativity while wearing cooling apparel to escape the summer heat. After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, several business owners relocated to The Heights and set up shop in their new community. Recognizing an opportunity to carry on the tradition set forth by the CrescentCity, the new merchants approached neighboring business owners about starting a new event that mixed New Orleans soul with Heights heart. Today, White Linen Night in the Heights is a neighborhood-wide event. It’s held the first Saturday evening in August and draws an estimated 20,000 to 30,000 attendees. Like in New Orleans, event-goers wear white linen and take to the Heights’ streets to celebrate art, culture and community while taking in some of the best entertainment, boutiques and shops, art galleries, restaurants and eclectic bars in Houston. “It’s a way of showing everyone in the city a good time and letting them know what we’re all about,” event organizer Mitch Cohen says.
