The Heights Democratic Club is a neighborhood-based, subgroup in affiliation with the Harris County Democratic Party. It was established to promote the ideas and beliefs of the Democratic party. We achieve our mission by recruiting speakers for our members from candidates and elected officals at all levels of government. We are called the Greater Heights Democratic Club because we welcome members from adjacent areas to the Heights, particularly inside the Loop between I-10 and Loop 610. Actually we welcome anyone of any belief, as long as they help us promote Democratic causes and candidates.
Have you thought about how you can help get folks like you to the polls. Are you thinking that you are just one person and how can you make a difference?
I am here to tell you thatyou can make a difference and help make history.
Here are some ideas that of things that you can do?
1. Are you a walker or runner in one of our many parks? If so why not pin a homemade sign on you shirt that ask those around you “Have You Voted”, or on that states “Vote Today”.
2. Do you have a cell phone? If so, call all the folks on your contact list and remind them to vote.
3. Place a homemade sign on your front door, fence, window that states “Have You Voted”, “Vote Today”, or “I Voted Have You?”
4. Take Election Day off and volunteer. Here are some of the types of task that needs to be done on elect day:hand out cards at the polls, drive seniors and other that need a ride to the polls, and many other task.If you would like to help out this way please call ASAP:713-697-8898
5.On Election day you and friends could also hold up signs on the side walk at intersections near your home or at intersections that you know of that have a lot of traffic.Once again these signs need not be High tech printed signs. You can make a sign that say things like “Have You Voted”, “Vote Today”, “ I Voted Have You?”, “Honk 4 Obama”, etc.
You can make change happen.Your efforts will make a difference in how we will live our lives for the next four years. Be the Change.Help us get out the vote this November 4th.
Take your Texas drivers license or photo ID card and Voter Certificate (orange card you received in the mail) to vote in person. A new device at early voting locations can speed up early voting lines by scanning your driver’s license or ID card. (If you don’t have your ID or voter certificate, other items that can provide identification to vote are utility bills or state (official) check stubs.)
Remember that you can’t wear clothing or buttons touting any candidate into the polling place.
Don’t wait till the last 2 days of early voting - the lines will be longer then.
Vote Early to reduce phone calls. The candidates can get nightly updates of who has already voted. They will stop calling when you have voted.
Vote straight Democratic ticket to elect more Democrats throughout the country, the state, and the county.
Check over the last page of the ballot to be sure all your choices are listed BEFORE you press the red CAST BALLOT button.
