Livable Centers
What are they and how do they work?
Speaker
Jeff Taebel, Director, Community and Environmental Planning, H-GAC
The concept of "Livable Centers" is a key strategy for future development in the 2035 Regional Transportation Plan, created by the Houston-Galveston Area Council. The topic has aroused intense interest because of the potential for actually reducing trips and vehicle miles traveled in the region, while producing sustainable prosperity for many cities and town.  But what does the term actually mean, and how does the dynamic work?
The meeting is at noon on Wednesday, January 23, at the Houston-Galveston Area Council, 3555 Timmons, second floor (note that the meeting will be in Room A). Bring your lunch. For more information call 713-523-5757. The Gulf Coast Institute and the Houston-Galveston Area Council host Livable Houston/Smart Growth bring-your-own-lunch meetings that are open to the public on the fourth Wednesday of every month. http://www.gulfcoastinstitute.org
Please RSVP to crossley@gulfcoastideas.org.
