The CHILDREN AT RISK Seminar Series will aid professionals working with and on behalf of children and adolescents with updates on current legal issues and available resources.

The focus of the first seminar in the series is the nexus between the juvenile justice and education systems and the impact of mental health issues on that nexus. Large numbers of children with mental illnesses and disabilities are involved in both the juvenile justice and education systems. This seminar will highlight children’s mental health issues and how they impact these children and their representatives at school, in court and throughout the juvenile justice process. This program will heighten public awareness of Education and Juvenile Justice System issues and available resources as well as start a dialogue among professionals from different disciplines about related reform efforts.
