Meet Michelle Obama

We have just received notice from the Obama for President campaign office, that the Senator and Mrs. Obama have selected Houston as an important, if not essential city to bring their message of hope for America. Theirs is a message of hope for America and a policy which is sensitive to the needs of common people.
Sept 19 shall be one of the rare opportunities to share a personal moment with this extraordinary and gracious lady. We are indeed fortunate to have a family role model such as the Obamas who represent the highest quality of integrity and leadership.

Texans Together is a 501(c)(3) organizations that was founded this year with the goal of building a strong grassroots movement that educates and mobilizes citizens to fight for economic opportunity. The local office is located at 411 Cavalcade, and can be reached at (713) 782-8833 or info@texanstogether.org.
Texans Together is putting a lot of resources into organizing minority-majority areas like Aldine and Spring Branch that are currently represented by Republicans. They hope to change that. Another constituency on which they are focusing is the Hurricane Katrina evacuees. HCDP Chairman Gerry Birnberg noted that "a high concentration of them has settled in Precinct 133". Texans Together recently canvassed 7,000 homes in the Aldine and Spring Branch areas, and is conducting a massive voter registration drive. They work together locally with the grassroots group Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now ( www.ACORN.org ) and the Houston Area Table coalition. The Houston Area Table meets monthly at the upper
