Kristen Mack, Chronicle political writer
Montrose Area Democrats
Tuesday, August 28, 2007 (4th Tuesday of the Month)
Featuring:
Covering the Political Beat
There is no shortage of political news in Houston, from crowded City Council elections to raucous State Legislature sessions. What’s it like to report on the news of politics, without the politics of news? Our speaker for this month, Kristen Mack, will answer that burning question and more! As the political reporter for the Houston Chronicle, she has a first-hand view of the inner-workings of city and state government. We will hear about her job, the highs and lows of being a political reporter in Houston, and what "big issues" she expects to make headlines over the next few months.
Kristen Mack is the political writer for the Houston Chronicle. After earning a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, Mack completed a two year fellowship with Hearst Newspapers, spending six months at four different papers throughout the country - in Michigan, New York, Texas and Washington, DC. Kristen has worked for the Houston Chronicle for six years, previously as its City Hall reporter.
