Protest Clinton’s Stand to leave Troops in Iraq - Now at CWA Hall

Veterans For Peace Chapter 12, the local chapter of Military Families Speak Out, CodePink, and the Houston Peace & Justice Center will join with other local activists to protest Hillary Clinton’s tepid stand on bringing the troops out of Iraq at her Rally when she visits Houston on 11 August and holds a rally at the IBEW Local 716 Hall at 1475 North Loop West (along frontage road on south side of I-610 North and just east of intersection with Ella Blvd; http://www.ghdc.org/2007/08/11/meet-hillary-clinton-free/).

Meet on the sidewalk along the frontage road by 9:30am with your signs telling Hillary and the other Democratic candidates that we want all of the troops out of Iraq….NOW!

Jim Rine

President, Veterans for Peace - Chapter 12

But obviously a campaign takes money,
so consider attending the reception and lunch following this Rally,
which is a fundraiser for $1000. at a private residence.
Details on the Harris Co. Democratic Party site.

Thank you, members ofthe Greater Houston Democratic Club, for going to the Hiilary Clinton Round-Up. If I was not planning to be out of town on August 11, I would go with you.

Thank goodness we have people willing to stand up to this woman and tell her that peace-and-justice-loving Democrats do not want “a residual force” of 50,000 to 100,000 American troops left behind in Iraq to fight al Qaeda. We’ve seen what fighting al Qaeda means–the destruction of Iraqi neighborhoods and the slaughter of civilians. Leaving American troops and/or mercenaries behind continues the occupation (or in Clinton’s words, “the war”).

Also, please let her know what we think of the unjust free trade agreements that she supports, such as the Oman agreement with a government that is a flagrant human rights abuser.

And don’t forget to tell her that we know she’s trying to deceive us when she represents her health care plan as the best we can expect while it is actually a major tax giveaway to insurance corporations.

Finally, let her know how absurd it is for her to expect anyone to contribute to her already obscenely overflowing campaign coffers. Tell her we know where she got much of her money–from contributors in the insurance industry and through fundraising by Rupert Murdoch–the dean of corporate media and a besmircher of Democrats and their ideals.

Again, Greater Houston Democrats, accept my deepest gratitude for all that you are doing.

I think it is a bad idea to trust Clinton. Sheila Jackson Lee had the courage to vote against the war on Iraq, but Hillary did what she thought she had to do for her career. Hundreds of thousands killed, and a situation that is now finally clearly “worse than Saddam” because politicians like her caved in to a lie. Here is some information about that lie and its origins: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=881321004838285177&q=power+of+nightmares

Just like with health care, the fight that needed to be fought was abandoned by Clinton in favor of the move that seems at the time to be best to get re-elected.

I didn’t trust Bush before the Iraq war, and she didn’t either — she is far to smart to buy his nonsense. But she went along with it, maybe thinking that it would give him a chance to screw up, look bad and allow Democrats to win elections.

I wrote to her before the vote and told her that if she voted for the war, I would do everything peaceful in my power to make sure she didn’t win another election on any level. I don’t have much power, but I add my voice here to say these things. I thank this website for providing an open forum to put my comment and hope it is not removed.

I emailed GulfCoastforHillary@gmail.com on Saturday confirming that my mother Joy Crossley and I would like to attend this rally for Hillary. Wasn’t sure about the best way to RSVP. We are excited about the chance to help Hillary get back into the White House.

If you need individual RSVP’s, this is stating that I plan on attending this rally for Hillary.
