2007 Pride Parade, Saturday, June 23, 8:45-11 p.m.

lower Westheimer between Woodhead & Whitney

March with other Dem clubs in the Pride Parade!!  Come meet new people and enjoy the craziness of 150,000 spectators along Westheimer.   Summer is here, so have some fun with us!  Last year we won the "Stonewall Award for Best Social Commentary" and we are making some great props this year.   Just show up!
We are number 44 in the parade.  Our staging area is at the corner of Woodhead and Harold.  Some of us will be there at 6:00 p.m. to decorate our vehicle and get the props in order.  The line-up area will be closed to traffic at 7:00 p.m., so you will have to park a few blocks away.  Please arrive at the staging area no later than 8:00 p.m., if at all possible.    The parade will start at 9:00 p.m.  Wear light clothing and comfortable shoes.
The theme for this year’s LGBT Pride Parade is

LONE STAR PRIDE

Greater Heights Democrats
Harris County Democrats (the club)
Harris County Young Democrats
Montrose Democrats

ROADwomen
Stonewall Young Democrats

are working together to create a strong visual image for the Harris County Democratic Party’s entry in the 2007 LGBT Pride Parade.

We invite all Harris County Democratic clubs to bring as many of their members as possible, and we certainly welcome Democrats who are not yet affiliated with a club.

The parade is Saturday night, June 23.

We need lots of Democrats to carry club banners and props.  The props are not heavy; we just plan to have lots of them.

We have paid the throw fee for Mardi Gras beads, so bring ‘em if ya got ‘em.

Whether you are one of the 1000+ participants or one of the 150,000+ attendees, there is nothing quite like the exhilaration of Houston’s annual Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Pride Parade. As America’s original nighttime Pride Parade and the largest annual GLBT event in the Southwest, it holds a unique place in the hearts of Houstonians and the many visitors who come to the Parade from throughout Texas and Louisiana and from other parts of the country.

The Parade is a thrill for spectators all the way down Westheimer from Woodhead to Whitney. Throughout the route, the Parade is an empowering blend of light, color and sound with beautiful floats, costumes and performances.
