“No Child Left Behind”, Public Hearing with Houston A+ Challenge

As the U.S. Congress considers reauthorization of the federal education law known as No Child Left Behind, Houston A+ Challenge and our community partners invite you to join us for a public hearing on how this law affects families and communities:

What:   Public Hearing on No Child Left Behind

When: Tuesday, March 27, 2007
            5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

           Refreshments and registration at 5:30; program starts at 6.            Childcare will be provided.

This event is one in a series being held nationwide by members of the Public Education Network, which will synthesize feedback into a report and deliver it to lawmakers in Washington this spring.

In Houston, the first half of the meeting will consist of facilitated table discussions on teacher quality, accountability and testing, school funding and public engagement. In the second half, an expert panel will comment on the legislation’s future, in a discussion led by Dr. Peter Bishop, founder of the Studies of the Future graduate program at the University of Houston - Clear Lake.
