DATE: Tuesday, January 9, 2007
TIME: 12:00 noon
LOCATION: House and Senate Chambers
Texas State Capitol

1100 Congress Avenue
Austin, TX 78701

Watch and hear the Legislative ceremonies LIVE Online while at home or work beginning at noon :     http://www.house.state.tx.us/media/welcome.php

Our St. Rep. Jessica Farrar will provide a FREE bus (and food) to Austin for the day to witness the festivities, including swearing in ceremonies of newly elected Dem reps Ellen Cohen and Borris Miles.  Opening Day is the election for
"Speaker of the House", so come see if Houston’s own  St. Rep. Senfronia Thompson, District 141

(named amongst the 10 BEST Legislators in 2001 by Texas Monthly mag)  can defeat Tom Craddick as Speaker!!  This will be the first step to reform the Legislature to reflect a bipartisan spirit, so WE the people can move forward and get things done!
"Leadership is about setting priorities, not partisan agendas. We need leaders who respect differing viewpoints, find common ground and have the integrity to put Texas families first."

- Rep. Senfronia Thompson

Bus departs 6:45am from St. Patrick’s Church, 4918 Cochran (between Fulton & Hardy Rd) and 1 block N of Cavalcade and will return by about 6:45pm.  Call 713/691-6912 for a reservation if there are cancellations.
