No regular 2nd Saturday meeting at Chattters in lieu of our Holiday Party and so not to conflict with "Lights in the Heights."

We provide the smoked turkey (a 20#er donated by Genie Mimms), ham, tamales, and you bring a pot luck dish, friend or family member, BYOB, and holiday camaraderie!!

SEARCH is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping homeless men, women and children get off the streets and into jobs and affordable housing. SEARCH serves more than 10,000 homeless people annually, providing them with the tools to work and achieve self sufficiency. Our core focus is employment, education and job training.

State Representative-Elect Ellen Cohen and her staff invite you to District 134 for a town hall meeting on health care policy in advance of the 80th Texas Legislative Session. Topics of discussion include the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), stem cell research and environmental policy. Come hear Rep.-Elect Cohen speak about her legislative agenda and from policy experts on these important health care issues.

Barbara Best from Children’s Defense Fund will discuss problems resulting from changes in the Children’s Health Insurance Program and what our leaders in Austin can do to fix them.
Joe & Nina Brown with the Alliance for Medical Research will present on the the science and politics of Stem Cell Research and what policies are being decided on by our State Legislature.
The Office of Mayor Bill White will outline an Environmental Agenda on policies to help improve Houston’s air quality.
A 5 minute session of question and answer will follow each presentation. When all three have completed, a 10 minute open session will follow with topics directly from audience members.

Please join us for the Power Hour" Networking Mixer; a great opportunity to meet community representatives, civic leaders, and concerned citizens in a social setting. District H Councilman Adrian Garcia will be on hand to discuss our topics of interest. Councilman Garcia serves as the Chair of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee and the Minority/Women Business Enterprise and Small Contractor Development and Contract Compliance Committee.
Our focus this month will be on two issues of great importance to our city: "The Importance of Developing International Relationships in Building Houston’s Economy" and "Maximizing Your Charity by Knowing How to Help Houston’s Homeless." As an added feature, the Houston Visitors Center will be made available to us. The center is the largest in the United States.
Our special guests include:
Mr. Laurence J. Payne, President and CEO of SEARCH. Laurence Payne is a long-time Houston community leader. He has served in leadership positions in both the private and public sectors of Houston for more than 25 years. SEARCH is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping homeless men, women and children get off the streets and into jobs and affordable housing.
Mr. Glen Gondo is the President of the Japan-America Society of Houston and serves as the Chair-elect on MIADC/Asia-Australia.

Get your group together - small or large - to carol in the streets and shops at Heights First Saturday’s "Mistletoe Madness", December 2nd. Your group may win $250 - 1st place OR $100 - 2nd place.
When?: Saturday, December 2nd from 10 to 6pm.
Who?: Churches, Organizations, Companies, Non-profits, Musical Rivals, Talented Professionals, Cheery Amateurs

Rumors are there will be FREE Wassail at the trolley stops, now with new and more Stops??? Is this a great neighborhood, or what?? Look for brochures and maps the week before at the stores. (list of Stops on left side of this map site.)
How Do You Win at Caroling?
: Shoppers and spectators vote for their favorite carolers by giving them Mistletoe Money available in the Program, on the Trolley and at participating shops through out the Heights. Carolers will be assigned locations and approximately 2 hours to sing and collect Mistletoe Money from the crowd.
